VRN VAFU · Wide-Spectrum Curing Light
The VAFU is a wide-spectrum LED curing light engineered for the modern operatory — 3,200 mW/cm² peak output, a broad 385–515nm range compatible with every major resin photoinitiator, and a magnetic swap-on caries detection head included in the box.

The Defining Capability
The VAFU’s 10W LED puts out a concentrated, collimated beam at 3,200 mW/cm² peak intensity — high enough that a standard composite restoration cures completely in a single second.
For a busy practice, the seconds saved across every appointment involving bonding, layering, sealing, or build-ups add up to real chair-time reclaimed across the week.

Inside The Light
Every spec solves something that frustrates clinicians using cheaper curing lights.
01 / Material Compatibility
Narrow-spectrum lights don't reliably cure modern bulkfill composites, lithium disilicate cements, or newer aesthetic restoratives that use TPO or Ivocerin photoinitiators outside the standard camphorquinone band. VAFU covers the full 385–515nm range including CQ, TPO, PPD, and Ivocerin in a single beam.
02 / Operator Comfort
Upper second molars, lingual surfaces of lower anteriors, distal margins — positions where fixed-head curing lights fail and the operator ends up contorting their wrist. The VAFU's head rotates fully around the shaft, so you find the angle, not the other way round. Combined with the lightweight 160g body, this matters over a full clinical day.
03 / Power Modes
Ultra-High (3,200 mW/cm²), High (2,400), and Standard (1,600) modes, each with selectable durations. Full Power, Progressive, and Pulse modes for different clinical situations.
04 / The Interface
Mode, time, battery, and power level all glanceable on the OLED screen. Auto-saves last settings on shutdown — pick the unit back up, it's already where you left it.
05 / The Charging Base
Qi-compatible drop-and-charge base. The base also measures the unit's actual light output — useful for catching LED degradation before it under-cures a restoration without you noticing.
06 / Caries Detection Head (Included)
Swap the magnetic spot head for the included caries detection head. When directed at the prep site, the light produces a red fluorescence response over affected tissue — a useful visual confirmation that caries removal is clean before placing the restoration. This isn't a replacement for dedicated diagnostic detection devices, but it's a handy confirmation step included in the box rather than bought separately.
07 / Build Quality
Single-piece metal CNC construction — drop-tolerant, durable, ergonomic in the hand for long restorative sessions. Light heads are autoclavable at 134°C / 0.22 MPa for proper infection control between patients. Four body colours available: Purple, Blue, Red, Black.
The Honest Comparison

Four Body Colours
Most curing lights come in clinical silver. The VAFU comes in four — so it fits whatever your operatory looks like, your hygienist’s preference, or your practice colour identity.
Multi-chair clinics can colour-code by operatory or clinician. Specs are identical across all four — colour is cosmetic only.
No Hidden Add-Ons

Yes — with the caveat that 1-second cure assumes P1 mode at 3,000–3,200 mW/cm² on a 2mm composite layer with direct beam contact. For deeper restorations or layered build-ups, standard 3-second incremental cures per 2mm increment still apply. The VAFU’s value isn’t that every cure is one second — it’s that the option is there when you need throughput, and the spectrum and intensity handle everything else without compromise.
You swap the magnetic spot head for the included caries detection head. When the light is directed at the prep site, affected tissue fluoresces red — giving you a visual confirmation that caries removal is clean before placing the restoration. This isn’t a replacement for dedicated diagnostic detection devices, but it’s a useful confirmation step included in the box rather than something you buy separately.
Older curing lights only emit in the 410–490nm camphorquinone (CQ) band. Modern composites — bulkfill systems, certain aesthetic restoratives, lithium disilicate luting cements — use additional photoinitiators (TPO at 380–425nm, PPD, Ivocerin) that aren’t fully activated by narrow-band lights. The result is under-cured restorations that look fine but fail prematurely. VAFU’s 385–515nm range covers every major photoinitiator in current use.
Standard 1-year manufacturer warranty covering manufacturing defects across the unit, battery, and accessories. Like our DQ-80 line, this is assess-and-repair (capital equipment standard practice), not full unit replacement. We hold local Australian stock and replacement parts so warranty events resolve quickly. Consumables (isolation bags, eventual LED replacement after years of use) are not covered but are stocked locally.
Yes. The VAFU ships with a root canal light guide for endodontic applications, plus two spot curing heads and a ball-head guide for targeted direct work. All four heads are interchangeable on the same handpiece — no separate units required.
Single units are $850 + GST. Order 3 or more units in the same order and the per-unit price drops to $800 + GST — a saving of $50 per unit, or $150 across a 3-unit order. Useful for multi-chair clinics fitting out simultaneously, group practices standardising on a single curing unit, or buying spares for backup. The bulk discount applies automatically at checkout once quantity 3 is reached.
